GIRLS FOOTBALL PROGRAM

Free ‘come and try’ sessions are available for all new players.

Collingwood City has built a strong and growing girls soccer program, providing a clear pathway from Kinder and MiniRoos through to Junior Girls and Senior Women’s football. With more than 100 girls currently involved across the program, we are committed to creating an environment where female players can develop, compete and enjoy their football at every level.

Our girls program is designed to cater for a wide range of players and ambitions. Whether a player is picking up a football for the first time, playing socially with friends or aspiring to progress through our competitive teams and ultimately Senior Women’s football, we provide an environment that supports their individual development. Our focus is on building strong football fundamentals from an early age, while progressively developing the technical, tactical and physical skills required to play at higher levels.

A key part of the program is our dedicated girls-only training environment, providing female players with the opportunity to train alongside other girls in a positive, supportive and development-focused setting. Our teams are supported by experienced coaches, with every girls team having access to a dedicated female coach, helping to provide strong role models and a coaching environment that understands the needs and experiences of female players.

Collingwood City invests heavily in coach education and development, ensuring our players are supported by coaches with strong football knowledge, appropriate qualifications and a commitment to developing the next generation of female footballers. Our aim is to provide a high-quality football experience across every age group, with coaching that develops players while maintaining the enjoyment and connection that keeps them involved in the game.

Player development sits at the centre of our program. As players progress through the age groups, training evolves from fundamental skills and game understanding through to more advanced technical and tactical development. Players are challenged according to their ability and experience, with opportunities to progress into our higher-level teams and continue developing within the Collingwood City pathway.

Importantly, we want girls to see a future for themselves at Collingwood City. Our pathway extends from Kinder and Under 6/7 football, through MiniRoos from Under 8 to Under 12, Junior Girls from Under 13 to Under 18, and into our Senior Women’s program. This creates a genuine opportunity for players to remain connected to the club throughout their football journey, develop alongside their teammates and ultimately progress into senior football.

Our ambition is to continue growing female football at Collingwood City while building a program that is recognised for the quality of its coaching, the development of its players and the opportunities it provides. We want girls to develop a love of football, enjoy being part of the club and, for those who want to pursue it, have the support and pathway to see how far they can take their football.

Girls can join a dedicated girls team, with training and matches played within their team environment, or choose a skills-focused training option if they are looking for a more flexible introduction to football.
